Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak was established by an Act of the Parliament of India in 2007. The University started functioning from July 2008. The jurisdiction of the University extends to the whole country and it is fully funded by the Central Government through the University Grants Commission. The University aims to cater to the long-cherished dream of the tribal population for higher education.
